10 Simple Affirmations for Self Doubt is a list I created because doubt is something that touches all of us. Some more than others, but it is something that we’ve all experienced.
If I’m being honest here, self doubt is something I’ve always struggled with. It affected how I saw myself, caused a lot of overthinking, and a ton of issues in my personal relationships. Self doubt made my confidence even worse, and I hated myself for a very long time. Because I knew what I wanted, but I let my self doubt stand in the way of achieving my goals and finding my purpose, and what made me happy.
What is self doubt? It is a lack of confidence in yourself and your abilities. It is a mindset that holds you back from not only believing in yourself, but being successful as well. This causes unhappiness and feeling unsatisfied in ourselves. This can become crippling and overwhelming if it is allowed to continue for a prolonged period of time. It can exacerbate depression and anxiety as well.
What I’ve come to realize is that self doubt can be overcome through positive affirmations. Affirmations are simple phrases we repeat to ourselves when struggling. It isn’t easy when you start this, trust me. I do this daily, and it has really made a difference. Think of it like developing a new habit. It takes time, patience, and consistency.
The great thing about affirmations is that they help shift your mindset in a positive direction, and soon you will start to believe these things. Our brains believe what we tell them. Why not tell them positive things?!
Affirmations are a simple way to speak kindly to yourself. This can boost both confidence and happiness, while decreasing stress. We all talk to ourselves, but the problem here is that more often than not, it is negative and overly critical. I’m my own worst enemy in this regard, and you probably are too. It is time to shift that self talk to being more kind, compassionate, patient, and loving toward ourselves.

If you have suffered any kind of abuse or trauma, especially as a child, but at any age, then you are likely struggling like I have with self doubt. It is often very difficult to see yourself in a positive way. I was raised by a textbook narcissist, who put down every idea I had ever had and attempted to voice. Needless to say, I stopped talking about it and let myself believe the hateful things my mother had to say, and it wasn’t an easy cycle to break.
There are still many truths I’m coming to terms with and finding the courage to voice, even as a full grown adult, due to this abuse. Because I was so good at hiding the truth, oftentimes, I hid it from myself as well as everyone else. That was a coping mechanism that I no longer need in my life.
It took me many years to not only find my purpose, but to believe in my own abilities, and find the courage to make my dreams happen. I knew when I was 14 that I wanted to write. But I let that self doubt stop me from even trying. It wasn’t until I was 32 that I found the courage to start The Prepping Wife, and let my writing grow from there into three more blogs. I found my purpose, and I finally understand and own the fact that no one can take that from me now.
I want you to find your purpose, and believe in yourself. I am very lucky that I have a friend who has always been my biggest fan in everything I do. He believes in me in a way I struggled with for many years. I always said that if I could see myself the way he did, then I would be unstoppable. This caused me to realize that I needed to see myself the way he did. It was a necessity to see myself the same way he did. His amazing support wasn’t enough if I didn’t believe in myself. Because I do have the capability to believe in myself and actually be unstoppable.
That is what prompted me to create these 10 simple affirmations for self doubt. I want the same thing for you. I want you to realize that you are unstoppable, and doubt cannot hinder you from reaching your goals, being happy, and achieving greatness. Because you are so much more capable than you realize, and I want you to find that belief within yourself.
