Day 6 of 31 Day Blogging Challenge
Today is day 6 of 31 day blogging challenge. If you want to read more about this challenge, click here.
I read today’s prompt and didn’t quite understand it at first. The task was titled “my 5 senses right now.” My first thought was, I have all 5, what more do you want? I’ve gone through and confirmed that they’re all working just fine.

But then my common sense made a comeback and I got it. The thing I like about this post is that it made me really stop and look around for a few moments. When I am working, it is super easy to get completely caught up in my work. I tune everything else out. This exercise made me stop and focus. Once I stopped to focus, I really appreciated all of the things that I’ll be talking about below.
Taking the time to appreciate the little things is something I tend to forget, especially when I’m working or just going through my normal routine. I think I should stop and take a few moments to focus on everything around me more often. It grounded me and I went back to work in an even more productive mood.
Taste
I taste coffee and it is amazing. I love a good dark roasted coffee and I take it black. I’m not a fan of added sugar, syrup, or milk to it. I want it dark and dangerous looking. If you’ve never tried Black Rifle Coffee, you are missing out! Murdered Out is easily my favorite blend. Brewed in my French press, it is the most beautiful shade of black there is. I feel like this coffee hits on all of the senses. It is just that good. Ok, maybe not touch. Because that would just burn me. But everything else.
Touch
I am currently holding the book I’m reading. The Tattooist of Auschwitz. This is a book I’m going to be reviewing next in my blog. I am hooked on this book and I’m only 85 pages in. But it is one of those beautifully tragic stories. Where something amazing comes out of the worst possible circumstances. I already recommend it.
Sound
I can hear Tigger snoring beside me. I always get a chuckle out of him snoring. He’s so loud for such a tiny furball. No matter where I am in the house, I can almost always hear him snoring.
I can also hear the washer and dryer running. Today I am washing all of my bedding, which is one of my favorite things to wash. Nothing like falling asleep on clean sheets after a shower and with freshly shaved legs. It ranks right up there with putting on brand new socks. I never noticed how loud the washer and dryer are when they are running at the same time. Must be more noticeable because the house is quiet.
Smell
I smell books. I have my book bin out on the desk because I’m reading a new book for my blog, and the review will be coming very soon.
Reading is a big joy for me. I’ve challenged myself to read at least one book per month and review them in my blog. Me being me, I’m reading more though. I love this bin I found to keep the books I’m reviewing in my blog together and organized.
Sight
I am working in my office at the moment, and it feels wonderful. I see my desk, all my books, laptop, and notepads for my blog. Then I look down next to me and I see Tigger. Tigger is hanging out and having a nice nap in his bed I made him. I need to post that in my blog too. It was a fun project.
I created this bed for him so when I’m working in my office, he has his very own space. He loves to be part of the group and hates when I go into either bedroom and shut the door. I really did not want to shut him out even more. I still refuse to let him in my bedroom when I’m sleeping, but I hate leaving him out when I’m working.
Anyway, back to the point. I’m watching him curled up inside his bed. He looks so comfortable and relaxed. I turned an ugly old nightstand into a bed just for him. Seeing the content look on his face just makes me happy.
I hope you enjoyed reading day 6 of 31 day blogging challenge as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it!

What a wonderful grounding exercise to do! I adore coffee too but with a splash of cream or almond milk.
Your cat is adorable!

Love tigger 💕 always chooses the darkest places to crawl up on, how is that coffee? I’ve been checking out different coffees to try 🙂

I call that coffee happiness in a cup. It is amazing, especially for being such a dark roast. There isn’t even a hint of bitterness.
