What I Collect
What do I collect? Books? I have a million of those around the house, and they’ve become part of my blog. I read and review them. Does that count? One of my favorite authors is Joyce Carol Oates, and she has written a lot of books. I do mean a lot too!
We Were The Mulvaneys is a favorite of mine. I’ve been reading this book about once a year since I was a sophomore in high school. You can read my review of it here. Nathan finally had to make a list for me to review when we go to the store, to make sure we are not buying the same books from Joyce Carol Oates. There are too many to remember without a list.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is one that I just finished and the review is coming soon in my blog. Stay tuned for that!
Revival from Stephen King is my latest read that I am working on. I’m actually going to jump back to reading it as soon as I’m done writing this post.
Homer’s Odyssey is a favorite of Nathan’s. He actually asked me to read it and review it in my blog. He is a huge fan of The Simpsons and has been since the beginning. In yesterday’s post, I talked about how his stamp is all over my blog and how he loves coming up with ideas for me to do. Yeah, reading this book is his latest suggestion.
Those are just a few good books that are enjoyed in my house. Let’s see what else I collect… I suppose Nathan collects video games. Is that a thing? Collecting video games? He has a million of them, it seems like. He’s an avid Xbox One fan.
If I had to pick a favorite game, it is Red Dead Redemption II. RDR II is one of those games with a real and continuing story. I actually enjoyed it. It reminds me of a movie, honestly. The graphics in it are impressive. But the story is what captured my attention. I found myself liking and disliking characters, watching them evolve and wanting to see the story go in different ways, and more. That really surprised me, but it is true.
Nathan’s top 5 are:
Red Dead Redemption II (note how we both loved this one.)
I will admit that I enjoy playing GTA 5 with Nathan. Mostly because I go find a Hummer or whatever they are called in the game, steal it and just go crash into everything in sight. Driving on the sidewalk, crashing into light poles like they’re nothing. Yeah, that is a fun one for me. If they made a plotless version where I could just spend all day doing that, I’d buy it.
I collect fabric and yarn. I crochet and sew in the fall and winter all the time. In the evenings, I’m either on the couch crocheting as I’m watching tv or sitting at my sewing table making something to send off to friends or family as gifts. Or even making Tigger a new blanket.
I think I’ve talked about this in my blog once or twice before. I bought the most beautiful antique Singer sewing machine. My favorite person on the planet sold it to me. It was his mom’s until she passed away, and she was the original owner. It is from 1948, and will probably outlast me. They don’t make things the way they used to! It is in a desk, with a stool, and it came with all kinds of accessories. Opening the stool was like taking a step back in time, seeing the old boxes for the light bulbs and other parts. Ahh, I could get lost opening it even now.
What makes my sewing machine even better is the fact he was willing to drive it nine (yes, 9) hours from California to Oregon for me to buy it. That is just one of my favorite memories to think about. Which I do every single time I decide I want to sew something or start a new project. I always have fabric laying around, even if I have no clue what to do with it when I buy it. That is usually the case, too. Sooner or later I will find the perfect project for it. I just wait for it to happen. I suppose I collect fabric. Lol.
Star Wars collectibles. I am a huge BB-8 fan! Check out this light here. I’m hanging it on the wall above my sewing table. Nathan has the Boba Fett light. The next one I’m buying will be R2-D2 for me and the Death Star for Nathan. Sooner or later, we will end up with the entire collection. The Millennium Falcon will be another Nathan wants. Star Wars is probably the one thing Nathan and I agree on in terms of collecting. As I said, those lights are awesome, and the collection is growing! I also have a BB-8 pillow, pajamas. I also have a BB-8 bluetooth speaker. Nathan thought that one was silly, but I use it all the time.
That is what we collect in my house. We’re bookworms, gamers, and just nerds. Lol. But it works, and it is certainly fun. What is something you love collecting? Tell me about it in the comments, because I am always interested to know what other people collect. Have you been following or participating in day 19 of 31 day blogging challenge? Let me know!

I love reading posts like this as it helps connect with fellow bloggers. I love collecting wristwatches if that’s a thing as long as its a wristwatch it’ll most certainly be bought by me.

I think the story with the sewing machine is so sweet.
I was thinking about what I collect and found it really hard to find something. But then I remembered one thing that I do collect: Cake decorating tools. I love baking and sometimes buy something new when I’m making something for big occasions.
And I think it’s so cool that you play video games.

Love this! I need to check out some of your book reviews! And I personally collect vintage postcards and pins. Great post. (:

Oh, Red Dead Redemption. . . My brother once told me he would name his son “Jack” because of that video game, lol!
However, I did enjoy watching my SO play RDR II!
