Day 15 of 31 Day Blogging Challenge

Today is day 15 of 31 day blogging challenge. If you’ve been following me through this challenge, I appreciate it. You can read about my other posts by clicking here. Today the prompt is an average day. My days aren’t really that exciting, in my mind. But they are mine, and I never complain because I like routine.

Come on in and let me tell you about day 15 of 31 day blogging challenge.

An Average Day

I run on a 24 hour clock. Day starts and ends at midnight in my mind. We’ll start from there. Nathan goes to work around midnight or so. Usually that first hour of the day is spent getting him out the door, feeding Tigger, and getting settled into my routine.

I start working when he leaves because I am very much a night person. The house is quiet, the world outside is quiet. I know my phone isn’t going to ring unless someone is dying and I should know about it. It is my time to relax and be able to focus really well.

Having four blogs, The Prepping Wife, The Cooking Wife, The Reading Wife, and this one keeps me on my toes and working quite a bit. So having quiet time to focus is essential.

Break Time

I am usually working the morning away, taking a break around 3am to grab a snack and stretch. Watching a little tv is on the list. Then by 4, I’m back to writing until 5-5:30. At that point, my favorite person on the planet calls me and we catch up before he goes to work and I go to sleep. When he calls, I know that is the time to start winding down and getting ready to go to sleep. It is the perfect stopping point for me.

After our morning chat, I head off to bed. I like being asleep when Nathan gets home because he then spends the morning playing video games and relaxing before bed. That is his time to enjoy whatever he does by himself. Plus he moves around a bunch as he’s falling asleep. If I’m awake, it feels like an earthquake concentrated in my bed and I want to smother him with a pillow until he’s not moving anymore.

Afternoons

I get up some 6-8 hours later, depending on how I slept or what I have going on. The afternoons can vary quite a bit. Sometimes they involve shopping, lunch dates with friends, or simply relaxing and watching tv. If I have Nathan home, we usually have plans for his day off.

I get Nathan out the door for work again, and start deciding what sounds good for dinner. After making dinner and watching tv, I’ll go back to work for a while. Spend some time catching up on social media and responding to emails. Then figure out what aspect of my blog requires more attention and make a plan from there. I’m always taking some sort of a class to improve my blogging skills and this is the time I work on those as well.

During the week, a buddy will call while he’s at work. If I am planning a dinner or something late in the week, I’ll invite him and his girlfriend over for dinner. Or for an evening out with Nathan and me. But early in the week is when we catch up on each other’s lives. I enjoy that I can usually multitask and get some social media work done while we’re chatting too.

Evenings

If Nathan is home, sometimes we make it a point to go out to dinner and run errands together. Typically we like to plan it out and stick to a certain area of town and will pick a restaurant around that as well. Or, there are days we just stay home, sleep and be lazy. Every once in awhile I love the sleep days, just order pizza and do absolutely nothing. These happen more in the winter when the weather is terrible and nobody wants to go out in it.

After that, Nathan comes home from work. He works two jobs, if you haven’t figured that out yet. In between his two jobs, we spend the evening together. This usually involves going grocery shopping, if needed. Or just hanging out at home and watching some tv and relaxing. Some days if he is hungry, I’ll make him a late dinner before he heads off to his second job. This is also the time we clean the house together or he helps me with some sort of blogging project I have. He is awesome about helping me with whatever I need, and this is a great time for that.

Notes

I don’t ever feel like my days are all that exciting. Lol. I enjoy them and have no complaints. I love having my time to myself when Nathan is sleeping or working, and he has his time in the mornings as well. Once the evening rolls around, we come together and spend some quality time.

My time is honestly spent exactly how I want it to be. I get to connect with the friends that matter the most. My time with Nathan is important and we always make sure we come together each day for some quality time. I am free to work whenever I want to. I can also go to the gym or out with friends when I want to. My life is really pretty simple these days. Which is exactly what I want and love.

Your day is so interesting, mostly the fact that it starts at midnight! I am a nocturnal creature by nature but the rat race of life has forced out of this, therefore my focus is never what it could be was I doing it all at night.

I love this ‘upside down’ way of life and I wish I was able to do something similar with my own life.

I know you don’t think it’s exciting but they sound far more exciting that mine at the moment 🙂

Nice to hear that you have time to connect with your friends and have time to cook lovely meals for Nathan as well, having two jobs can’t be easy. I really like your blog posts for the blog challenge series, they are always so interesting!

Your “average day” doesn’t sound average at all. I think it’s because of the way you chose to spend it. This is really an interesting blogging challenge and trying to read back more of your previous posts related to this!

Such an honest and true account of time. I love the fact that you said your days are not exciting but you enjoy them…that is the main thing x

Hey, I love that you are doing this challenge. The questions are so intriguing!
Your lifestyle is untraditional to how most people live, but it sounds so interesting. You are making it work for you. And you have the self-discipline to do what matters most to you.

That’s such an interesting way to adapt to your husband’s work patterns. I’m not sure I could deal with those hours, I’m usually really tired once it gets dark and go to bed at around 10pm. This allows me to wake up really early (6-7am) and get stuff done in the morning.
I love how you call your favorite person every day, I do the same with a good friend but only once a week on Sundays.

Your day is so different from mine–I couldn’t stay up at night to save my life. We go to bed by 9 p.m. every night (sometimes earlier) and get up at 5:00 a.m. I think it’s very thoughtful of you to give Nathan his own space and alone time. You’ve aligned your schedules quite well.

WOOT WOOT! Halfway through it. I love your routine… a few nights ago I just kept working through the night and the next day. People think I am crazy for this but my body doesn’t mind it. Do what makes you happy and it seems like you have it under control!
